A decade of innovation in high-performance wireless connectivity, overcoming the limitations of legacy wireless platforms.

Why Conventional Wireless Falls Short

Wireless connectivity has a hidden problem. Most radios such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and standard UWB were built for average conditions. They work well enough on a bench, in a clean room, in a controlled lab. But put them into the real world, on a body, near other devices, inside a helmet or a headset, and the cracks appear. Latency spikes. Packets drop. Batteries drain. The connection that was supposed to disappear into the background becomes the bottleneck.

That's exactly the problem SPARK was founded to solve.

Histoire SPARK

SPARK’s technology originated in ultra-wideband radio research developed at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) by Frederic Nabki, Dominic Deslandes, Mohammad Taherzadeh, and Michiel Soer. Their work showed that transmitting short, precisely timed impulses across a wide frequency spectrum could deliver exceptional energy efficiency, low latency, and high data rates.

In 2016, the researchers founded SPARK Microsystems to commercialize this technology and develop a new class of ultra-low-power wireless transceivers. Since then, SPARK has grown into a fabless semiconductor company delivering the speed, energy efficiency, and reliability required by real-time connected systems.

Today, SPARK offers a growing portfolio of production-ready chips, backed by an extensive patent portfolio and a Montreal-based team serving customers across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

À propos de nous

Who We Are

SPARK is a fabless semiconductor company based in Montreal, Quebec. We design the chips and modules that make the wireless link work. Founded by wireless researchers and built by semiconductor industry veterans.

We work on a problem most people only notice when it breaks: the wireless connection between devices. Our job is to make that connection so reliable, fast, and power-efficient that it simply works in the background.
