Audio Compression

Description

This application showcases a unidirectional audio stream using the WPS where the Coordinator device sends data to the Node device. It implements an audio compression processing stage (based on the ADPCM compression algorithm) to reduce the payload size transmitted over-the-air.

Behavior

For this unidirectional audio stream (Coordinator to Node), an audio compression processing stage has been added to the audio pipeline. This compression algorithm compresses audio samples by a factor of 4. This processing stage can be used to reduce the application throughput while maintaining relatively good audio quality. Output volume level can be adjusted on the Node using SW1 (volume up) and SW2 (volume down). By default, the volume is at the maximum level. You will notice LED0 blinking very quickly when communication is successful; this is because LED0 blinks every time a packet is successfully transmitted (which implies a successful ACK has been received following the transmission). The following diagram illustrates the general structure of the schedule used in this application.
